Reliability–Priority #1
“Keeping electricity flowing across the six New England states” is a huge responsibility. When ISO New England outgrew its corporate headquarters, the organization needed a reliable partner to supervise the $30M, 100,000 square foot expansion along with the renovation of its exisiting 60,000 square foot facility. The work had to be fast tracked—within 22 months—with absolutely no operating downtime.
These two conditions alone rendered the project technically complex. In addition, ISO New England was committed to building to LEED Gold certification standards while adhering to stringent Department of Homeland Security guidelines. Power redundancy and blast protection went without saying. Naturally, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission had its eyes on the project. No pressure.
When Chrusciel got involved in the project, the design was only 50% complete. Chrusciel was able to hire just the right team, utilizing a best value procurement methodology over more typical low bidder approach. Throughout the project, Chrusciel worked with ISO New England management, the design team, subcontractors and local agencies to get the high profile project done.
The result? The facility opened on time and under budget. Chrusciel was able to give the savings back to ISO New England. And ISO New England’s LEED Gold Certification was one of the first in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
